![]() FROM PUDONG AIRPORT Shanghai's Pudong International is located 35 kilometres (22 miles) southeast of Shanghai. It is now the main airport for most foreign travellers & for important domestic flights.

This is the most convenient way to travel to the city centre. However, most taxi drivers do not speak English so it’s advisable to have the address in Chinese or take a map to pinpoint the destination. Make sure if you do write an address down that it is in Chinese characters, not pinyin, as many drivers cannot read pinyin. It takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour to get to the city centre according to the traffic. Expect to pay RMB 130-150 for a trip from Pudong International Airport to the city centre. There are cheap and efficient (fares are about Yuan 18-30 from the airport to the city) using them can be difficult if you don't speak Chinese; there is few signage in English. Price (RMB): FROM HONGQIAO Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport mostly handles domestic flights but still serves as an International Airport. It is about 15 kilometres (9 miles) from the city. A taxi ride should be just over 30 minutes and cost about 50 RMB from Hongqiao Airport to the city centre. There is an extra charge of RMB 15 from Hongqiao Airport to the downtown via Yanan elevated highway. It is the world's first commercial magnetic levitation train. The Maglev train is limited use in getting into central Shanghai. It will only take you to the Metro Line 2 Longyang Station in Pudong, which is quite far from the city centre. From here, you will have to continue your journey by subway, bus or taxi.
